What is NFSe?
The Electronic Service Invoice (NFS-e) is used to document the provision of services. It is a document under municipal jurisdiction and has specific characteristics in each city that offers this service.
So what is the difference between NFe and NFSe?
NFe is the document used to record a transaction involving goods (physical products). NFSe, on the other hand, is meant to record the provision of services.
Who are the parties involved in an NFSe?
In service transactions, the main parties involved are usually the issuer, the recipient and, in some cases, a third party.
Who must issue an NFSe?
Issuing this document is mandatory for every service provider that falls under the regulations set by their respective city governments.
How do you issue an NFSe in Odoo?
The Electronic Service Invoice is a tax document under the responsibility of the cities. Each city has autonomy to adopt its own electronic system, defining communication standards, file formats, mandatory fields and other rules. We at Edoo Tecnologia implement NFSe issuing in your Odoo. You can choose to communicate directly with the city government or to use a third-party commercial API. For service invoices the advantages are even greater, since the rules can vary significantly from city to city. An additional complication is the instability in some cities, where the format can change suddenly because of changes in the local administration.
What is the difference between the service date (data de competência) and the issue date?
The service date is the day the service was actually provided. This is one of the details that can vary from one city government to another. Most city governments use both the service date and the issue date. So, with our localization it is possible to send an invoice to the city government now, but with an earlier service date — last month, for example. The issue date refers to the exact moment the NF-e was sent to the city government's system, and this information cannot be changed. In some city governments the concept of a service date may not exist, and only the issue date is used.
