NFS-e Platform Schedule Split into Two Stages Within August
The National Platform of the Electronic Service Invoice (NFS-e) confirmed a new package of features that will go live in production this month, split across two dates. The rollout will be carried out in two stages, with on August 3, the Public Query will begin displaying the IBS and CBS information groups and the second stage scheduled for August 10 will include adaptation to the alphanumeric CNPJ, with updated XML schemas, and the inclusion of the IBS and CBS groups in the Full Web Issuer and in the issuer intended for invoices arising from administrative or judicial decisions. The rollout will be carried out in two stages. On August 3, the Public Query will begin displaying the IBS and CBS information groups. The updated generation of the Auxiliary Document of the Electronic Service Invoice (DANFSe) will also be made available, in accordance with Technical Note No. 008, through the Public Query, the Taxpayer Portal, and the Municipal Administrative Panel. The second stage is scheduled for August 10 and will include adaptation to the alphanumeric CNPJ, with updated XML schemas, and the inclusion of the IBS and CBS groups in the Full Web Issuer and in the issuer intended for invoices arising from administrative or judicial decisions. An adjustment to the enrollment and disenrollment in the Simples Nacional regime within the invoice substitution feature will also be implemented.
Stage 1 — August 3, 2026
In the first batch, the highlight goes to two points that directly affect the issuance routine and the fiscal document query experience:
- Public Query with IBS/CBS groups: it will now display the new taxes' information directly on the document query screen.
- New DANFSe (NT 008): the layout of the Auxiliary Document of the NFS-e will now follow Technical Note No. 008/2026, available through the Public Query, the Taxpayer Portal, and the Municipal Administrative Panel.
This second point has an important side effect for IT teams and tax system vendors: as of the same date, the official DANFSe (Auxiliary Document of the Electronic Service Invoice) generation API will be suspended on August 3, 2026, transferring the responsibility for generating the document according to the defined standard to the companies and ERP developers themselves. The official DANFSe (Auxiliary Document of the Electronic Service Invoice) generation API will be suspended on August 3, 2026. As a result, the responsibility for generating the document according to the defined standard will be transferred to companies and ERP (enterprise resource planning) system developers and tax systems. It's worth reinforcing that this change does not alter the process for those who issue invoices manually through the National Portal. In that environment, taxpayers will continue to be able to view, generate, and download the DANFSe normally. The impact falls on those who rely on their own systems or third-party systems integrated via API.
Stage 2 — August 10, 2026
One week later, four more fronts go into production:
- Alphanumeric CNPJ, with an update to the platform's XML schemas;
- Full Web Issuer, with the inclusion of the IBS/CBS groups in the issuance form;
- Web Issuer for Administrative and Judicial Decisions (Bypass), also including the IBS/CBS groups;
- Adjustment to the enrollment and disenrollment in the Simples Nacional regime within the Invoice Substitution feature.
According to the governing committee, the schedule was defined so that companies, municipalities, and developers would have time to complete the technical adaptations and validate their systems during the homologation period, reducing risks when the new features go into production. According to the government, the schedule was defined so that companies, municipalities, and developers would have time to complete the technical adaptations and validate their systems during the homologation period, reducing risks when the new features go into production. All these features had already been released in the testing environment since the end of July: the features have been available since July 27 in the Restricted Production environment, intended for homologation and testing.
Who Is Required to Fill in IBS and CBS Starting Now
A practical point of attention, detailed in the National Public Web Issuer Guide (v1.2): the mandatory nature of the fields is not the same for all tax regimes. As of August 3, 2026, filling in these fields will be required for companies subject to the regular regime, while for those opting for Simples Nacional, the requirement will only begin for taxable events occurring as of January 1, 2027. As of August 3, 2026, filling in these fields will be required for companies subject to the regular regime, in accordance with the system's validation rules. For those opting for Simples Nacional, the requirement will only begin for taxable events occurring as of January 1, 2027. The guide itself makes clear that the national issuer is already prepared to prevent the issuance of documents without the IBS/CBS information once the rule is in effect — one more reason not to leave validation for the last minute.
What About Technical Note 009, on New Taxable Events?
It's worth separating what is changing now from what is still pending. The changes brought by NT 009/2026, which address new IBS and CBS taxable events not yet formalized via NFS-e, still have no production date. The features set out in Technical Note No. 009, as well as the changes related to the new taxable events, will not be available in the Production and Restricted Production environments during the month of August 2026, and a new schedule for the implementation of NT 009 will be announced later. the features set out in Technical Note No. 009, as well as the changes related to the new taxable events, will not be available in the Production and Restricted Production environments during the month of August 2026. The Executive Secretariat stated that a new schedule for the implementation of NT 009 will be announced later.
Checklist for Tax and IT Teams
- Confirm with the issuing system's vendor whether DANFSe generation has already been internalized (outside the official API) before 8/3.
- Test the display and filling of the IBS/CBS groups in the Web Issuer and in the Public Query in a homologation environment.
- Check whether the customer and vendor registration already supports alphanumeric CNPJ in the NFS-e fields.
- Review the tax classification of Simples Nacional companies that use the Invoice Substitution feature.
- Monitor the publication of the NT 009 schedule for the new taxable events.
