An achievement that took real work

Edoo Tecnologia is now an Amazon-approved developer for integrating systems with the Selling Partner API (SP-API). It is the official gateway Amazon provides for software to connect with its vendors' accounts.

It started with a concrete request. One of our clients sells to Amazon as a vendor and received purchase orders only in Amazon's portal. Each order had to be read there, typed into the ERP and confirmed back, one by one.

The solution was to connect Amazon directly to Odoo. To do that, we first needed Amazon itself to approve us.

How Amazon's process worked

Amazon does not grant access to a vendor's data to just any software. Before putting the integration into production, Edoo went through these steps:

  1. Registration as a developer company. We opened Edoo's account in Amazon's solution provider portal, in the company's own name, not a client's.

  2. Identity verification. Amazon checks the company's and the responsible person's details, with an ID document and facial recognition.

  3. Developer profile. We described what Edoo does, who our clients are and what each type of data will be used for. We only requested access to what the integration really needs: purchase orders, shipments and tracking.

  4. Security review. We answered a detailed questionnaire on how data is protected: encryption, access control, password policy and two-factor authentication, and how we respond to an incident.

  5. Approval. After the full review, Amazon approved Edoo as a public developer, able to serve many clients and not only itself.

  6. App registration. We registered Edoo's integration app, with the secure address through which each client grants authorization.

  7. Client authorization. The client signs in to its own Amazon account and authorizes Edoo. Nobody shares passwords, and the client can revoke access at any time.

It was a demanding process, entirely in English and with strict rules. That is exactly what gives peace of mind to anyone who trusts their company's orders to an integration.

What the integration does

With the approval in place, we built an integration that brings Amazon purchase orders into Odoo, with no manual typing:

  • Orders arrive on their own. Odoo fetches new orders and changes from Amazon at regular intervals.

  • Tracking dashboard. On a single screen, the team sees what has arrived, what is in progress and what is done.

  • Fulfillment centers identified. Each Amazon buying unit is linked to the right record in Odoo, with address and tax data.

  • Confirmation back to Amazon. The team accepts or rejects items in Odoo, and the response goes to Amazon through the integration.

  • Invoicing in the same flow. The order becomes a sales order in Odoo and moves on to Edoo's electronic invoicing (NF-e) and finance, like any other sale.

The integration runs on Edoo's API platform, which talks to Amazon and delivers the data to the client's Odoo. It works with Odoo Community and is available to all of our clients who sell to Amazon.

Security first

  • Encrypted credentials. Amazon access keys are stored encrypted and never shown on screen.

  • Minimum access. The integration only reads and responds to what concerns orders. Nothing changes in the Amazon account without an action by the client.

  • Each client in control. Authorization is granted by the client in its own account and can be revoked at any time.

  • Continuous monitoring. Edoo tracks the health of the integration and of every scheduled routine, and acts before a problem reaches the client.

Does your company sell to Amazon?

If your company receives purchase orders from Amazon and wants to see them in Odoo, with invoicing and finance in the same place, talk to us. The integration is ready and authorization takes just a few minutes.
